Electroacupuncture: Precision, Stimulation & Healing

What is electroacupuncture? Electroacupuncture is a modern variation of traditional acupuncture that combines acupuncture needles with a gentle electrical current. After the needles are inserted, small clips are attached to selected needles and connected to a device that delivers a controlled pulse between them.

What does it feel like? The sensation is different from standard acupuncture. Most patients describe it as a light tapping, pulsing, tingling, or rhythmic muscle contraction rather than pain. The intensity is fully adjustable and can be tailored to each person's comfort level. Many people are surprised by how comfortable and relaxing the treatment can be.

What conditions can it help with? Electroacupuncture is commonly used for a wide range of conditions. It is frequently incorporated into treatments for low back pain, sciatica, frozen shoulder, tendon injuries, muscle tension, and sports-related injuries. It may also be used to support nerve function, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, promote tissue healing, and address certain neurological or functional conditions.

How does it work? One of the benefits of electroacupuncture is that it provides continuous stimulation to the acupuncture points throughout the treatment. This allows the practitioner to deliver a consistent therapeutic effect without needing to manually stimulate the needles repeatedly.

Is electroacupuncture right for everyone? Not every treatment requires electroacupuncture, and it is not appropriate for every patient. When used correctly, however, it can be a valuable addition to an acupuncture treatment plan and may help enhance results for a variety of conditions.
