How I Work
How Acupuncture Really Works
Most people assume acupuncture is about placing needles where it hurts. Sometimes it is, but that's not the primary strategy.
The goal is to restore communication in the body.
In chronic conditions, the nervous system can become sensitized, meaning the affected area is persistently interpreted as a threat. This is associated with changes in pain signaling, increased muscular guarding, and reduced circulation, all of which can interfere with tissue repair.
Acupuncture can help regulate this process by modulating neural activity, normalizing muscle tension, and improving local blood flow, supporting a more favorable environment for healing.
It signals the body to
- increase circulation
- relax the nervous system
- restore communication between systems
At that point, the body can start correcting itself.
Some questions won't seem related.
There's a reason for that. In this system, symptoms are connected through patterns — not just location.
Two people can have the same issue, but completely different causes. If I treat them the same way, one improves and the other doesn't. So I need the full picture first.
A session typically includes:
Full intake
Health history, lifestyle, current symptoms — even the ones that don't seem related.
Assessment
Including tongue and pulse — to read patterns the body is showing.
Treatment
Acupuncture and supportive therapies tailored to your constitution.
Plan going forward
Clear timeline, realistic expectations, and what progress should look like.
Everything is explained clearly so you know what's happening.
Begin
If you're not sure where to start, that's completely fine.
We'll figure it out together.
